I took my own advice and installed a “warning system.” I looked around my garage for something to hang there and came up with one of those short wire leads with alligator clips at either end. I clipped one end to either side of the “scissors” of the vent, and tucked the wire up behind the knob. I figure that next time I raise the vent I will let one end dangle down and I will then see that and know that I have left the vent open. In all probability, I will put up with the dangling wire for a while, pull it off “temporarily” and then forget that I’ve done that and be no further ahead. But, it was a try, right?
