I put a middle seat into a Westy once, https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=426830 . It was only in where we needed the extra seats. I do not recall bolting it down at all. I know I pulled it out when we were camping and put it back in when we were getting ready to leave.
