My setup from the dealer has the fixed length intermittent wiper setting. Push the stalk down. I did not correctly state that in my last message. I meant adjustable intermittent wipers. I believe that it was available on some later models. I am thinking more and more about trying the 99 relay and bypassing the problem. Nuts, a thought just crossed my mind. I am still left with windshield washers not working. Hmmm.

Dave, If your van did not originally have intermittent wipers (with the fixed interval), the "99" relay is not a simple plug and play. I have read somewhere about the modifications needed to the parts in the steering column and perhaps in the relay socket assy. in that situation. It's probably in the archives...somewhere. Maybe someone will pipe up with the info.

What Mark said. With the 99 relay there is no pulling to the wash position. If you can run the wipers in the original, fixed interval delay mode with the original relay, the 99 relay should work fine for you.

I thought the over use of the wiper stalk, caused by often changing wiper interval, is causing the problem, not the relay. Do those wiper relays ( I believe I have the 198 relay) go bad? I thought they were pretty reliable.

Hey, I have a bunch of those "99" relays. They let you adjust the interval easily. They are easily installed on vans that have the fixed delay interval originally.Much harder, but possible on old vans with no intermittent wipers. If you want a "99" relay, send me your name and address and I'll try to send you one. The mailing situation is a little difficult here right now. If and when you get it, you can send me some $$. Not more than $15.
