if you find a good one to replace then get it... Yeah, that's been my rule of thumb these last 20 years; replacement parts will be harder and harder to resource.  Grab 'em while you can.  Your repair looks like a solid one though; a little bit of J-B Weld (either epoxy or my new favorite, the squish-together 2 part epoxy putty) can really go a long way.  For Vanagons or even around the house.

I love that putty stuff; super strong; can shape and finesse and sand and paint; repairs become almost invisible.
