Propane is not considered to be a greenhouse gas, and may be dispersed in the open air, if there are no places nearby for it to settle into, thus creating a flammable pool. Notice when you fill that propane vents to the air.

Now, regulations vary from state to state, or province to province, so check before releasing, I suppose.
