One word of warning here...I recently replaced my rack with the JP Group complete rack "kit". When the inner tie rods were tightened to spec, there was a small but visible gap between the peening flange and the end of the rack. Without the support of the flange, I could see the threaded part of the tie rod fatiguing and snapping off. Scary stuff.

I at first suspected that the rack threads weren't deep enough, but IIRC, in the end, the "positive" chamfer between the threaded part of the tie rod end and the flange was larger than the "negative" chamfer at the start of the threads in the rack end, so it was bottoming out there before the flange could make contact. Filing the latter chamfer a little deeper allowed the parts to mate properly. Sheesh....new parts, same MFG...we shouldn't have to deal with this stuff.

So, just maybe double check your parts actually fit together properly.

Alex
