I tried and compared both Mann and K&N air filters and didn't see any improvement, it could have some but I didn't notice. I tried on both old engines (80K+ miles engine) and rebuilt engines. The only thing I don't like K&N is the cleaning and the time it takes to dry before reinstalling it. For ex. on a long trip, doing some off-roading, unpaved and dusty roads etc etc. if I have a Mann filter I'd just pop it in and that's it. On the other hand with the K&N filter I will need the cleaner, the oil, water from a hose and a couple hours drying time. In short for convenience I like Mann filter better.
