hi Jamie, the gas will flow quite fast if you remove the gas line from the tank... I'd think the diameter of that line is about 1/2" to 5/8" are you planning to remove the gas from the tank to get rid of the debris/dirt? - I'd suggest that you pinch the line with a clamp or vise grip to control the flow.
