Given the amount of crud I saw at the metal cam etc., likely not a long shot for moisture to get inside the switch.

That switch is nothing "fancy" per se. You might find a cross via part number on it or, zoom in on the switch that GW uses for a part number.

A fellow on the samba vanagon forum had a switch where excessive wear in the plastic pivot point in body for the switch made it impossible to adjust the switch. IIRC, he split the switch open and repaired (built up) the pivot point with JB weld.
