This one seemed to get lost in the ruckus about the spare, but isn’t this another myth long since debunked?  I think past hashing resolved that those cone-headed steering column bolts were a silly attempt at theft deterrence and never were “breakaway bolts”.

         If you don't believe it then that's up to you. Just make sure that
you have not changed the breakaway bolts in your steering column either.
