Subject: Rear hatch vibration Why all vanagon sound alike
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hi list,

Has anyone out there with the camper covered the hatch with beutel adhesive sound proofing? What was the result on vibration?

The other day I was looking at the engine hatch area contemplating sound proofing when I took my fist and gently struck the lid. I quickly realized that if I did a Vanagon engine tempo it sounded as if my engine was actually running. I always wondered why no matter what engine was in a vanagon I heard something similar in the sound. I now think it is all those engine lids acting like a deep drum.

No matter what engine some part of the vibration will make that familiar lid drum sound!

Except mine once I figure it out.

Still looking at the decoupled mass loaded vinyl but I have a lot to learn.
