(Does that ever happen?) The Amazon page raises some questions, some answered by the manufacturer's web site: https://smartoplug.com/product/r6-smart-o-oil-drain-plug-sump-plug/ In particular the FAQ's (sic) page: https://smartoplug.com/faqs/ "SMART-O is reusable, but for optimum performance, we recommend changing the plug once a year." If the O ring gets damaged, replace the whole plug. They offer kits with an "assortment of top washer" (sic). The FAQs say the washer is mostly to protect the oil pan surface. The O ring provides the seal. The plug is to be installed "as the OEM plug is." There's a washer on the plug in the photos, but not in the little cartoons that show how it works. The FAQs include some discussion of the washers. |
