Even more confidence building.
I may have a recording of my old starter. It worked fine and is in my spare parts box. But If I can put the recording of the new starter with it I’ll do a link to share.
My wife thinks I’m crazy, but when we head out, her driving of course, I often ask to start the van.
That starter sounds so good.
And, the Dennis built GW 2.3 fires up and runs very sweet.

And I didn't even have a vise on my workbench to help with this modification. Obviously, super happy, and strongly endorsed. Hey...your Vanagon needs to start each and every time, no compromises.

Ugh....that IDI Hi-Torque starter motor was a nightmare. Bump-start every morning from Missouri to San Diego, and a few times throughout the day too. Some Hillbillys at some gas station in the middle of nowhere...they pushed my Vanagon.....super friendly and helpful guys...and they gave me a thumbs up and I gave them a "mweep-mweep" from my horn as I drove off.
