Definitely try the old sensor. Fans not kicking on cuz you are at normal
Operating temperature at 3/4th the gauge. You can even check it with an
infrared heat gun in the engine to make sure. My rad fan has been
malfunctioning for a couple years now I have dealership installed ac so
it’s not an easy fix for me cuz I suck at electrical. when I hit traffic I
make sure I’m by the shoulder just in case I gotta pull Over and shutter
down.
