Conclusion,

I had one original screw that didn’t want to bite in either position. I went out and got a replacement. M 5 .8 was on the container that matched the size and thread. The screw was slightly longer.

When I tried them with my extra rubber shim the new long one worked perfectly in the spot giving me trouble but was a bit longer for the lower spot, but one of the original screws was good and fit there. Result is that the latch is now nice and snug not rattling and repair cost me .69 cents in new parts and a scrap piece of rubber.

I did put a dab of lock tight on the screws.

Hoping for more success like that in the future.

I appreciate knowing where to get the parts though as I suspect that down the road I may need some of the window latch pieces.

Still rock solid for now. And, Stuart the GW video was helpful to listen to and likely even better for those watching. Still they do talk out most of the actions and that is appreciated and good form on GW’s part. Eric Caron 85 GL Auto

The kit includes the outside plate and seal along with the inner rubber seal. A piece of innertube should work fine. Just use a little blue (light hold) Loctite on the two screws when you reassemble it to the glass. Then it will stay tight. >> >> Stuart >> >> -----Original Message----- >> From: Eric Caron <ericcaron96@comcast.net> >> Sent: Tuesday, June 8, 2021 7:38 PM >> To: Stuart MacMillan <stuartmacm@gmail.com> >> Cc: Alistair Bell <albell@SHAW.CA>; Vanagon List <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> >> Subject: Re: Slider window catch info >> >> This is very helpful. >> >> I think all I need is the gasket and I plan to try to make that out of an old inner tube.
