Eric,

While I have slider windows and latches sitting here in the barn, and I’ve taken them apart a few times over the years, I can’t give you a definite answer right now.

But if I was forced to guess, I’d say you’re right about the plastic/rubber gasket being worn out.

Can you get replacement for that? I don’t know, hope others work chime in
