I had BFGs on 14” rims and ended up going to Nokian Wgr 3s on 15” (they no longer make these tires, instead they offer the Wgr 4s which I just bought for my Audi A4. Do I miss the BFGs? No not really - good on goat trails or in snow but that is only 5% of my driving. I found them noisy and you can feel vibration from the tread and they seem pretty hard. Vanagons are noisy enough without the additional hum of tires adding to the overall racket. The Nokians are an all weather tire and perform well in town, on the highway and are fine for gravel and dirt roads - just not a tire to go off road with. They do not look beefy but are slightly wider than the BFGs and are a nice looking road tire.

I am planning to purchase 16” wheels at some point too in order to add the GW big brakes and I am interested in looking at the Yokohama Geolander A/T GO 15s - not as tready as BFGs or General Grabbers but still an off road tire that won’t be as noisy when driving on pavement and they should also have good performance on and off road. I think the 215/65R16 98H are 27” outer diameter which is really the max for the stock drive.

Anyway - Curious what the list says about Yokohama or any other tire choice.
