I'm not that familiar with the relevant details on a Syncro but while a helper depresses clutch pedal, watch slave and bracket to ensure that clutch operating arm travel is normal and that the bracket isn't flexing or moving. I doubt the bracket is broken though. In lieu of a helper, a camera could be positioned to record video while you depress clutch pedal.
