Subject: Aluminum coolant tanks
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8"

Back in March I had a number of hoses replaced on the cooling system which included having the plastic coolant tank changed over to a GW aluminum tank. Well the first one had a leak upon installation and was immediately replaced by the shop.

Yesterday after a short run to fill up on camping propane, I parked back at home and was doing some cleaning of things out of the rear storage compartment - I noticed a small pool of pink coolant under the van. Opened the hatch and had a good look expecting a loose hose and noticed drips coming from the coolant tank. Checked the hoses and they were fine. Dried the bottom area of the tank and waited - then with my finger I located a seam edge that was moist - dried it again and it became moist again creating a droplet on my finger.

Anyone else out there have some issues with these tanks too? I bought it because I didn’t want to have anymore problems with the plastic version which can crack and leak over time.

Hopefully third time lucky?

Bruce
