I’ll take it off tomorrow and describe better.  But from first glance the plastic section that the clip attaches to has broken out and the clip is no longer attached.  It had been fixed once by someone else and had a small bolt through the clip and a nut on the outside in the depression. 

So, I’ll look and see if other damage but looks like it is the area where clip attaches.

I’ll remove and examine more carefully tomorrow morning and see what ideas we can come up with.

This is  one that Jim kindly sent me so I have my original.  I think this one is better though, or it was!
