Since I tend to do some very long distance roadtrips with my Vanagon, almost makes sense to buy one of these just to have at the ready. I would bag it with multiple layers of heavy duty plastic, and use Zip-ties to mount under chassis. I have had the unfortunate experience of having CV joint failure thousands of miles from home....and that is a bad feeling....especially when the local small town mechanic scratches his head and is perplexed on what to do and how to do it, mostly meaning acquiring the vital parts. Yes, eventually it gets solved, but can be sort of expensive logistically. BTDT. This solution makes sense.
