Wow!
When I started this thread I had no Idea about all the new info out there. Also, the great ideas.
Having a Automatic I don’t think carrying the full assembly will work. I would have gotten it to make fixing mine easier for me and a helper.
I’m tempted now to keep my ears open for quality CV join, maybe even original used and a boot kit just to keep on hand for another emergency. I’ve had a boot fail now three times since 2014. And not a lot of miles on the van. One happened between the time it was replaced and arrived home about 70 miles from garage.
Today, we replaced the boot with a new but low budget one that a friend had on his shelf. I need the van now and the ones I ordered will take forever to get here.
So, I’ll be revisiting this job again I’m sure.
Keep the great info coming. And, fingers crossed I don’t start traveling with a CV boot kit and extra joint in my spare tire emergency parts kit.
Already have belts, fuel pump, rescue tape, fuses, and ignition switch.
