Quite expensive and for not a lot of range. That said, EV West focuses on performance as they don't believe most people get very excited about just the environmental aspect, which I think is fair. It's not a coincidence that the first car Tesla rolled out was a speed demon Roadster built inside a Lotus frame and that the Model S sedan is still breaking 0-60 speeds.

That said, it feels like we're entering a period of critical mass with most major car manufacturers offering or soon offering viable electric-only options. With the levels of scale coming from the global auto industry, we should see component prices dropping rapidly (once they get back to equilibrium after the pandemic, of course).

I recall reading a few years ago about some university automotive lab in the midwest that was working on electric motors within wheels that could be a "bolt-on" option to retrofit most cars. Of course, a few years might as well be a few millennia, so I've completely forgotten the location and details, but hopefully they're still chugging along.
