Well, I had an encounter ar a speedy lube place in Southern California. But this was with an 85 Fleetwood Caddy. I pulled into their drive-thru stall. The attendant (I refuse to use the word technician) proceeded to look up my vehicle on his computer. After a few minutes he told me that they could not do the oil change because my vehicle was not listed in their system.

Okay.... relating to the vanagon lack of knowledge. I would NEVER, EVER let ANYONE touch my van that didn't know where the engine was or how to proceed with it.
