The bearings with the built in seal are too long for the Waterboxer. To use you need to drill out the stop in the crankshaft which also moves the effective bearing surface out or bore out the center hole in the flywheel. That eliminates the need for the felt seal and the often worn or missing ring that holds the felt seal in place.
