In general, I get at LEAST 2 compliments per day on Vanagon Roadtrips.  I was in Texas, small town; City bus driver motioned to me.  I thought I was in his way, so I moved forward; he backed up!  He said, "I totally love your van!  So excellent, so excellent".  Next day, stopped into a CVS Drugstore for stuff; outside was a cop; she said "I totally love your van!".  I said, "Yeah, they are rare and getting rarer." She said she was trying to do a DYI conversion on a vehicle of hers.  Yes...this is the norm when on the road.  People LOVE these things!!!   Keep them in good shape folks!
