With any vehicle I've ever had with cruise control, my miles per gallon drop when I use it. So far, I've had no problem with driving without it with the camper, no hip, knee, or back problems, though I have a history of sciatica, lower back pain, arthritic knees (had to have arthroscopy for right knee). In fact, contrary to Richard's experience, I find the camper to be a comfortable drive (except for the noise). Perhaps my short stature and the high seat help? I don't do well at all in vehicles with the type seats that most people want -- the low slung seats that put one close to the floor with legs sticking straight out.
