This weekend I am going to honor Loren with a martini and flags at half mast. I enjoyed camping with him many times in the early/mid 2000s with the Wet Westies and at Westfalia acres. He was many things, Marine, Astronomer, Vanagon support and in the end a person I won't ever forget. The way I see it, he's just lead scout and doing reconnaissance & when we get there the fire will be going and the cocktail flag will be flying. Loren, Bev, Jon, and others will be waiting as we one by one pull in to spread out for more great times together. Godspeed Loren, I can't wait the hear about the journey! Brian

I have a question about Loren. Does anyone know if he worked at Intergraph Corporation in Huntsville Alabama during the 1980s?

I knew a Loren Busch there and wonder if it was "our" Loren.

Wow! That is a name from my earliest days on this list back in 2003. Lots of interesting threads with Loren on them.

I went back into my own archives and found a response Loren made to a thread I had started about camping locations along the Washington and Oregon coast - that was in 2015 and seems super long ago now.  I recall the trip was pretty awesome and without issue until 2 kms from home when my coil bit the dust.  Of all the possible places for the coil to expire - could have been on the Astoria-Megler Bridge or in the far left lane of the I-5 driving through Portland at rush hour on a super hot day - or possibly on the climb up to Mount St. Helens...or any other inconvenient hazardous situation or place.

My point - we don't know when our time will come or how it will come. Hopefully it is peaceful and we pass without too many regrets and with our loved ones and friends nearby.

All the best to Loren's memory - a thoughtful, kind Vanagon enthusiast willing to pass along his experiences and knowledge to the rest of us.
