It just depends on if you want to put the chrome plastic piece back. These were stock for Vanagons from 80-87. After 88 the seals were just black with no groove. You can use either, but if you buy the one with the groove then you should also buy a new plastic/chrome trim piece, to go back with it. Does that help?
