Yes, that is what the strip is for.

I was one that tried to keep all stock, but when it comes to the seals I recommend forgetting the plastic fake chrome strip and going with the non grove gasket. The trim never looks good for long and is not worth the bother. My rear window has no trim and the rest do. As they get replaced for any reason I’ll stop having the trim and glad to see it go.
