Of the 6 or 7 Transporters I have owned and driven, I believe that all of
them had a noisy jumping speedometer when the temperature got down to 30 or
40F. It would usually get slowly better during a long enough drive.
I don't recall this happening with any of the other VWs we have owned.
(Type 3 and 4, Rabbits, Jettas, Golfs)
