Hi David,

I don’t have AC in my 85 GL. But, if I did I would have kept it and maintained it. I pretty much use the van in warm weather and more and more I miss air conditioning in the van.

Also, I’m more and more believing that as much as possible it is good to leave things as they are and use as is.

So, my 2 cents are, even if you don’t plan to maintain the system, leave the components in place. But, if system is usable keep it going and enjoy!

If my updated van has a good season or two I may then look into new air conditioning options. Maybe by then an auto heat pump. In the meantime I’ll use and enjoy as is.

So, just my thoughts.
