Hey Guys, I currently have an 84 westy and I'm kinda feeling like getting some power steering. Been researching the electrical steering kits, seems like the downside is I'd lose the collapsibility of the steering column in the event of a head on collision, and the plastic shroud around the column has to get sliced and diced to fit everything up in there. I do have the bmw booster not sure if that would have an effect? What's the downside of grabbing a power steering rack and running lines to the usual power steering pump spot in the back? I'm about to install new bushing on the rack anyway and the steering stiffner. I have all new bushings except steering and I'm hoping it gets rid of the vibration in the steering wheel I get at highway speeds. I'd prefer not to slice and dice the plastic covers up front but if electric is better I would. Thanks for your thoughts. tom |
