I agree that replacing your master cylinder is a good time to flush your brake system, and I still pull fluid through all 4 wheel cylinders until it's clear if the system has not been bled in 2 years. The advantage is you aren't pumping air bubbles through e entire system.
And BTW, you should replace your fluid with DOT-4. It's 100% compatible with DOT-3 and less hygroscopic - it absorbs less moisture from the air.

That’s a good idea. I will try it next time. I’m a little concerned about the residual brake fluid in the line, though, that could theoretically never get moved out.
