I get ya about the noise potential. But some things to mitigate… The door skins have dynamat on them, so that reduces the noise to start. The cards will be covered by foam then fabric, so that I hope will deaden them. And the cards will be firmly held to the door with new clip, button, things .
I’ve been using a hand cut aluminum door card for a couple of years on the sliding door. Didn’t seem much different than the old fiber board card. Hadn’t even covered it. But it was held to the door with machine screws sitting in cup washers, riv nuts to accept screws in the stock holes in door. Was in very securely, didn’t oil can or vibrate. I work with aluminum every day, I know the stuff pretty well now.
