Darn!

I was just about to pull it but we get a lot of rain in VT and I will not risk it for a visual reason. Someday the windshield will need to be replaced and that will be the time for a new trim free seal.

I appreciate the different experiences shared by list members.

I've had two vans now that I removed the trim from the rubber and immediately had water leaks around the gaskets. Granted, it rains here...A LOT, but it does show that there is at least a chance you could develop leaks if you pull the trim. > > -----Original Message----- > From: Vanagon Mailing List <vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com> On Behalf Of Eric Caron > Sent: Wednesday, March 30, 2022 6:05 AM > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Subject: Window locking strip trim > > Hi Vanagon folks, > > Can the locking strip around the windshield be removed without affecting the integrity of the window seal or safety. > > Mine is so darn ugly and tired I’d just like to remove it. > > I’d prefer not to replace it just make it go away. > > Any experience or info on this? > > If I wait long enough it may just go on it’s own.
