My 84 Westfalia has two sets of pop top struts so that the top works when a roof box is loaded. I need to either disconnect two struts or somehow put them on a much lower setting. At the moment I can’t close the roof I would simply hang from the bar! I was only able to open it by having someone put weight on the rack. The struts are different then the ones I installed on my 85. Thes bold directly into the roof metal at the bottom and directly through the top of the pop top with two bolts and a metal bracket. Both ends seem the same and feel like the plastic part of the rear hatch strut. So, Any tips on how to disconnect them or make them weaker? My guess is they were a GW product years ago as most of the van is updated with GW items. Tips appreciated as the top is not coming down until I figure this out! Eric Caron
