hi Jeff,

Here's a story by coincidence. Today a friend came over to help with the yard work and stayed for lunch. When he left in the afternoon his truck didn't start. The starter made a "taratatat,taratatat,taratatat" noise, crank weakly and the engine doesn't fire. I removed the battery connectors, cleaned the posts and connectors and the engine fired right up.

So I'd advise you to do the same - clean the posts and connectors - because oxidation between the posts and connectors weaken the voltage going to the starter.
