Hi Jim,
I’ve purchased 4 possibly 5 pumps by now and two are spares, one will be left after this install.
I did my install a little differently.
I left the pump wire from the first bad pump connected down deep in the space in the storage area. Instead of dealing with that I simply cut the old pump wire up high. This gave me lots of wire to work with and I could more comfortably work outside the tight compartment.
After putting the new pump in the tank and putting on the hose and wire through the grommet, I added crimped spade connectors and clipped the wires together. I used jacketed connectors and taped them for extra care. I’m no good at solder and this way when I replace the pump I only have to add two spade connectors to the spare and I’m back in business. I put extra connectors with my spare I carry in the bus.
I’d have finished the swap out today but was shut down by a heavy thunder storm. I’ll finish tomorrow and the 85 will be fully ready for the camping season.
