Subject: Fuel pump noise?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hi foks,

returned from a 400 mile trip in the 85 camper. A great trip building up confidence.

I did notice an unfamiliar sound and traced it ultimately to my fuel pump. This is a relatively new pump changed out searching for a problem a couple years ago but not many miles ago.

I think it gets louder as it is used. I also notice that it is loud for a moment when turned on then smooths out.

Is this similar to your fuel pump?

I have a couple spares, a new Bosch, and a new aftermarket. I was planning to keep one spare in each van.

What do you folks have for experience with this?

I hate to change out a perfectly good pump for a second time! But, better safe then sorry.

Can the used pump be cleaned out and kept long term as a traveling spare?

Your thoughts and experiences. Appreciated.

Eric Caron
