Be careful you don't over fill the oil. The 2 marks on the dip stick mark the normal oil level range. I found years ago that my 2.1 l would use oil until it got to the 1/3 above the bottom line level. When I finally got an oil temp gauge (drain plug sensor) I could clearly see high oil temps when full and lower temps near the bottom of the range. I don't have the temp data info close at hand but I wrote a few notes to the List about this. I also found that drafting caused oil temp to rise. I don't know if this was the result of radiator performance or wind on the engine. Evidently there is a significant amount of air cooling on the engine crankcase. Can you believe that? Air cooling on a VW? Wonders will never cease! Good luck, Ed |
