Hi John, I have the metal valve but it uses the same O ring design. Unless VC has a different metal one now. I believe mine was from VC about 10 years ago. I installed and it lasted this long. But then the core warped where metal and plastic met. I ordered a new core and new ring. And then many more O Rings. Fingers crossed this one continues to work. At one time I saw vC had a special O Ring but I could not find it again. I’m not a good web searcher I think it was about $8.00 The GW is .95 cents. The Bus Depot was $3.75. The metal valve seems very nice. I wish there was a heater core of better quality. I think my new one is already starting to bend in the middle where the O Ring is clamped. I was going to use gasket sealer this time but we waited to see if the thicker O Ring would work. Fingers crossed. Eric Caron Eric
