What I did some years ago, was to take out the stick thermo switch on the back fins and replace with thermo probe for a programable tstat. Was during my ongoing effort to make the propane fridge work a wee bit better.

I thought I’d play with lower temp setting for the fan to come on. Last year I replaceded the original , kinda clunky , programable unit for a slimmer inkbird brand one.

I wasn’t convinced that adjusting the fan set point really did much. But the obvious benefit was the fan would stay off if the control unit was off. No runaway fan on a hot day thing, that this thread is about.

Funny how it’s still a surprise for some that the stock fan works that way :-)
