Thanks Adam, but I just tried as much as I could, to copy the stock steel bumper. So design credit goes to VW.

the endcaps were the hardest part to do.

I’m in a bit of a quandary though. The stock bumper is held to the mounts coming out of the frame rails by 2 m8 bolts. I did same , but added some blocks ( look like rubber bumpers but they are aluminum) to spread the bolt load. The bumper is 1/4” aluminum with some gussets spaced along, so it’s pretty solid mount. But I’d like a stronger attachment to the mounts. I might have to add something behind there.

But then again, it’s not meant to be a bruiser of a bumper. As is, it’s pretty stiff and goid for stepping on to get to roof rack, whatever.

Cheers

Alistair

Lots of details to fix in the next one, I’ll admit to being a little sloppy on matching weld lines on the endcap to the main part, but overall I think it works. >> https://shufti.blog/2022/08/11/vanagon-rear-bumper-done/ >> >> Alistair
