I think you’re still ahead.  I just browsed around some.  GW now has a fancy looking offering with steel braided hose, and they say it is still somewhat noisier than the original.  Back when I did mine, what they had did not look that good, did not fit the same and they said it was noticeably noisier.  Both GW and Van Café also have the VW hose ($300+), curiously GW picture shows the dampener and VC does not.

What I did was a big win for me, and it looks like this is still not a resolved question and you’re doing the right thing.

Oh well. I’m futzing around now with the hardlines near the sliding door area. I think I can dampen the vibes.

Curious about why having the hoses rebuilt meant no dampener.  Were there different ways that was done where the dampener was built into the hose?  I had mine rebuilt at a local shop nine years ago, and they swapped in the dampener as well as the end fittings.  Like original, but all new hose.  I think it was just over $100 US for the whole set.

The good thing about the original is that it has a section in the middle of the rubber hose that has a small orifice which dampens the pump pulses, keeping thing quiet.
 
But I decided to have a local shop replace the rubber, and therefore no vibration dampener. The shop was coast industrial here in Victoria, on Duppelin. Actually it’s been bought by greenline and called that now. But same staff as before.
