Gas tank project update,

Old gas tank is out and new one is in. All is connected but the rain has kept me from gassing up and trying out the new tank.

The old tank had two old grommets in it. They don’t float. They slide around the bottom. I can’t help but wonder if they partly blocked the outlet often pump sounded ok when first started then after a little while started to struggle. I’m imagining the rubber disk being pulled over the outlet screen to partly block. When I blew in the tank it moved them away. Then they would return.

I’ll know more once I can start the van.

Darn that rain anyway.

It was a challenging job to do alone and blind but now I could do it much quicker and easier.

Dennis was a big help talking me through the first steps of getting out the gas inlet to the tank and later he talked me through installing the fuel sender. A little guidance for doing it the first time made all the difference.

New tank was a tight but perfect fit. Fingers crossed I add gas, pressurize and don’t have any leaks and then have a running van and hopefully a quiet fuel pump.
