So, in an ideal world, coolant heats up and expands. It happily goes via a rubber tube to that plastic tank....you know the one....behind your license plate. Later, via physics, the coolant returns to your Expansion Tank. So.....why is this not working? Many reasons. Most likely, compromises either with the Blue Cap or the plastic Expansion Tank itself, or the hoses in between. Hey...quit fiddling around. Replace that funky Leaky Expansion Tank with the Blue cap. With a solid welded version from Van Cafe!

I would replace the sensor in the coolant tank.
