So glad Dennis responded on list as the original message never made it to my in box.

I can’t compare the kits but I’m very happy with the GW kit. I especially like the rear Disc and spring loaded emergency brake.

Ironically though, my new to me 84 has stock brakes in very good condition and all drivers seem to be surprisingly happy with them.

With your wheels you do need longer wheel studs as the rotor flange is thicker than the stock drum. The front rotors are beefy offering more thermal mass than some of VW-Audi based kits. As availability is sometimes an issue I have these kits in stock. > > Dennis > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Vanagon Mailing List <vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com> On Behalf Of WILLIAM WINGET > Sent: Tuesday, September 27, 2022 4:21 PM > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Subject: Re: Big brake and rear disc brakes for 87 westy > > Sent from the all new AOL app for Android > > On Sat, Sep 24, 2022 at 1:52 PM, WILLIAM WINGET<danwinget@verizon.net> wrote: I am coming close to needing to do my brakes. I put 17" wheels on My van so upgrading the brakes is next. I am torn between burley kits and go westy kits. I am leaning towards Burley because it seems to use off the shelf parts vs gowesty proprietary stuff. Any other insight would be appreciated.
