You're right, of course.

I just wonder if any smart chargers are smart enough to know, when charging power is restored, and they find the battery at X%, whether the battery is at X% because the charger was in the middle of a particular charging profile five minutes ago when the engine was turned off to run into the sandwich shop. Or is it at X% because the van has been parked for a week after the charger finished a later step in the charging profile.

And whether, with that little bit of memory, the charger can do an even smarter, better job of preserving the battery's life and capacity.
