Hi Eric,
I used spring clamps where I could in my recent coolant hose replacement project. The advantage of spring clamps is that they expand and contract while keeping the clamping force constant. In locations where I found it too difficult to fit spring clamps, I used worm clamps with solid band, not the standard parts-store clamps. Buslabs sells spring clamps.
There can be issues with mixing different types of coolant but I'm not knowledgable enough to elaborate beyond that, sorry.
